SIGNS WITH RACEWAYS CAN GIVE YOUR NEW SIGN A GREAT
AESTHETIC LOOK, BUT CAN ALSO PROVIDE SOLUTIONS TO COMMON SIGN INSTALL PROBLEMS
What is a raceway sign? A raceway is a square, rectangle or custom shaped box that all the pan channel or reverse pan channel
letters, logos of the sign get mounted to. They can be 1" depth to 5" depth or more. There are a few main purposes for the sign.
1) The biggest reason for a raceway is to cover holes on building from previous tenets signs. When you are a new tenet in the building or suite many tenets before hand have had signs there . This means on all those previous sign installs they drilled a ton of holes in the building fascia. Sometimes when this is the case the integrity of the original building wall has been compromised and if we were to go install another building sign on the wall it will be difficult as many of the mounting screws won't hold due to patched previous holes.
2) Another main reason we use raceways is to hide a lot of electrical wires due to a lot of single pan channel letters or logos. If you have a sign design that is very long words or a few words then this can help with the install being easier and also hiding all the jump wires from
pan channel to pan channel.
3) If the roof or building has a more strict insurance policy, sometimes its great option to put your sign on a raceway. This will allow only is 1 hole to be drilled all the way through to the inside of the roof, main attic or drop down ceiling.
4) The last reason is for artistic, designer reasons. If you want more depth and dimensions on the sign not only can it serve the functions above but can make the sign more fun and eye catching. We also can use them to add different shapes and outlines to the sign that can create a more diverse look and feel to the final sign outcome.
Below are some great examples of sign raceways. Some are for function while others we did specifically for sign design and to make it part of the aesthetic of final project.

This sign band wall had way to many holes from previous building signs. So our solution was to make an invisible sign raceway. Invisible raceway is a aluminum raceway that is painted the same color as the building fascia to hide the raceway as much as you can. We also thought this was beast option since their logo sign design was 26 channels.
